BIOGRAPHY

Evgenia Kaika was born in 1972, originally from Athens. She has always had an intense passion for the sea, and for all that is simple and real...from the beauty of the landscapes, to tones, colours, sounds and music. She was fortunate enough to spend a long period of time in Poros, the pearl of the Saronicos, her ancestor's island. She decided to take her graduate degree with specification in classics, and has a wide knowledge of languages; however she also has a diploma at the Music Academy of Athens.
Her career as a painter started completely by chance. She discovered the pleasure of self expression through colours and shapes when she was eighteen. In 1993, the famous painter Dimitris Fatouros, saw her work at Ydra and strongly advised her to continue to paint as folk artist, without attending an art academy, and to express her natural talent, maintaining her unique style.
During the same year Eugenia moved to Naples, her beloved city. Where she discovers the craft of ceramics, which captures her instantaneously. Her work has often been exhibited both in Greece and in Italy, and many of her pieces are now across the ocean. One of her most important works is the portrait of Saint Lucianus, painted by her on hand-made tiles. The painting is now an adornment in the tower of Saint Assumpted Mary's Church, which is located in Lusciano near Aversa.
Since 2011 she moved to Santorini. One of the cyclades islands, and known to be one of the natural marvels of the world. This location has inspired many artists, because of the strong juxtapositions and contrasts, which characterize it.

In 2013 she opened her art studio where she has found happiness surrounded by colours and music.
